Chief Executive Officer
Gérard BLOCH got an Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering from the Toulouse Institute of Technology (ENSEEIHT), a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) and an IP law degree from the Law School of Strasbourg. He is a European patent and trademark attorney.

Experience

After having run his own French IP Firm in Paris, he merged it with the Gevers Group and settled in Belgium.
He is now CEO of the Belgian IP Firm of Bird Go√ęn.
Gérard Bloch has been lecturing in IP at the University of Technology of Angers and at the Institute for Research in Industrial Property of Paris.
He is a former Vice-President of the French Chartered Institute of Patent and Trademark attorneys.
He speaks the three official languages of the European patent Office.

Experience

Before becoming a consultant, Mr. Cutforth has gained his professional experience in patent law as a Director of Intellectual Property Planning in a major telecom company, and as a patent attorney in a major Munich IP law firm.
Mr. Cutforth’s main technical fields include software, systems, and semiconductors, for applications such as optical transmission, mobile telecommunications, business systems, consumer electronics.

Dr. Hélène Bourvon is Patent Engineer at Bird Goen since 2013.

Experience

She holds an engineer's degree from Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Physique de Grenoble (France) and a Master of Science in Optics. She obtained her PhD. in 2012 in Organic Electronics at CEA-LETI, Grenoble (France). She was a Technology Transfer Officer at Inria, a French research institute dedicated to numerical sciences prior to joining the Firm.

Wim van den Boeck
Wim entered the field of Intellectual Property in 2002 and is attorney at BIRD & GO√čN since 2011. He is specialized in physics, green technologies, semiconductor processing, mechanics, optics, electronics, telecom and computer implemented inventions. He has a strong expertise in US patent law.

Experience

He holds a Master in Physics (Great Distinction) from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Belgium).
Wim worked at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, in collaboration with CERN (CH) (research), and has been co-author of more than 50 scientific publications. Later he worked for Alcatel Bell (research), IMEC (IP department) and a major Dutch patent law firm.

Wim accumulated experience from a wide variety of IP perspectives. He is an inventor, and has performed strategic research in standardization context. As an in-house IP counsel, he was involved in creating IP awareness, patent prosecution, IP portfolio management, licensing and spin-off creation activities.

He has experience in handling pre-infringement opinions, European and US drafting and prosecution, infringement litigation and anti-counterfeiting actions world-wide as well as management of IP portfolios.

Philippe has graduated from the UCL as a chemical- and bio-engineer in 1998 (with Great Distinction). He then carried out research in Cell Biology for several years. He has obtained his PhD in Biomedical science in 2002. He is author of a series of publications in highly ranked international scientific reviews (Nature,¬Ö).
